Winter arrived quite
dramatically this year! We had 80 degree weather almost
all of October, then zap, the temperature dropped 50 degrees in 2
days, and snow covered the lawn! We had guests who were kayaking
and hiking the first 2 days of their stay; then, building a Shore
House snowman before they left! Now, all downhill and XC ski areas
are open for skiing! (And of course, we are selling discount lift
tickets!) So, pack up those skis and boards and come visit our
winter wonderland! As I am writing this newsletter, the fourth
storm of the season is at our door step. The wind is howling and
the waves are crashing onto the beach. We are excited to get more
snow, and would like to share with you the variety of winter
activities at Tahoe:Cross Country Skiing on
beautiful wooded trails or across frozen lakes, or Ice
Skating at Squaw Valley under the full moon. How about a
Snowmobile Tour into the high country overlooking
Lake Tahoe, or a RomanticSleigh Ride with your
sweetie? You can rent a Sled and zoom down one of
the nearby sledding hills, or rent Snowshoes and
hike to a fabulous viewpoint for lunch. Top off your day in the
lakefront Hot Tub and/or Massage at
the Shore House, and ThenWine and Appetizers with
us before heading out to your FavoriteRestaurant for Dinner. Of course, we still offer discounts for
Downhill Skiing, and Snowboarding. Remember
that many of the ski areas and restaurants at Tahoe offer major discounts for midweek skiing and dining!

Massage Studio The newest amenity at the Shore
House is our beautiful Lakeview Massage Studio - It has a comfy
lounge with a spectacular view of the lake, and a massage room
with 2 state of the art massage tables. Our specialty is couples
massage, that means both of you getting a massage at the same time
in the same room. Our professional and highly trained masseuses
offer relaxing, deep tissue, therapeutic massage, and have been
getting rave reviews from our guests. Perfect Apres Ski Activity!
Gift Certificates to the Shore House Gift
Certificates make a wonderful gift for that relative who has
everything, or as a thank you to employees that you can’t live
without. How about an Anniversary or Wedding Gift. Give us a call
- we can help take the burden off of your Christmas shopping as
well!
TV’s For those of you who have had to
search for a place to watch the SuperBowl or the news while
staying with us, rejoice! We are in the process of adding TVs
(beautifully hidden in Pine cabinets) in our
guestrooms. They will be installed in January of 2004.
High Speed Wireless Internet Access North Tahoe has
finally come into the 21st century. DSL is now
available and installed at the Shore House. We have wireless
adaptors that you can plug into your laptop to get internet access
from anywhere on the property. WOW! Now that’s Cool.
Gift Shop We have had so many requests for more of
our flowered cat creamers and china sets, engraved wine glasses,
moose, robes, Shore House t-shirts, sweatshirts, coffee mugs and
cookbooks that we have been feeling a bit crowded. So, we have
expanded our gift shop! Let us know if we can help you with the
perfect Christmas gift from the Shore House!
Special Extras We’ve designed 5 Special Extras to
enhance your stay at the Shore House. You’ll find all the details
on our web site. Start your stay with a bottle of Champagne and
Chocolate Covered Strawberries in your room upon arrival, a
Welcome Basket full of fruits, cheeses, breads and treats or
arrange a surprise for your honey with Breakfast in Bed. Make your
visit to the Shore House even more romantic with our special
extras.
Re-Vamped Website Have you noticed our new website?
It is still www.shorehouselaketahoe.com but completely
redesigned. There are more pictures, better info, a weather
forecast for the coming week, there’s a page just for the Lady of
the Lake cruises, and a page with New Wedding Packages.
Reservations on Line You can also now reserve a room
online any time of the day or night, but of course, we still enjoy
taking reservations over the phone, so we can hear your friendly
voices! After you make your reservation, our confirmation letter
includes an easy form for you to reserve a massage, a table at any
of our fine neighboring restaurants, a cruise on the Lady of the
Lake, kayak rentals, a welcome basket, breakfast in bed, chocolate
covered strawberries and champagne, or a special bouquet of
balloons and flowers.
Kayak Rentals Our other new addition is our own fleet
of kayaks for our guests to rent! We rent kayaks in the warmer
months right from the Shore House beach, so you can take them out
for an hour, or get a picnic lunch from us and spend the day
swimming and sunning at the Crystal Bay boulders!
Wedding Packages We had a great year with weddings -
Many happy couples have sent us pictures to add to our wedding
book! We’ve redesigned our wedding offerings into 4 packages, from
the simplest "Just for the Two of You" to the "Ultimate Intimate
Wedding". It’s all on our web site at

. These packages can also apply to Vow Renewals. Take a look and
call us if you have any questions.
Group Stays With our new lake view lounge next to
the massage studio, we now have the facilities to accommodate
small groups. We can rent out several rooms or the entire Shore
House midweek to special groups, including wedding parties, in the
fall, winter and spring. We have had a few small businesses hold
their executive retreats here, and a women’s book group from San
Francisco had a fun midweek getaway for several days here last
month. Let us know if your group would like to come to our inn for
a business or recreational retreat. You know we’ll wow you all
with Shore House hospitality!
Unique Inns The Shore House is honored and please to
have been invited to join a very prestigious group of Inns called
Unique Inns. This is a west coast group of Inns from California,
Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.
When you arrive at the Shore House, we will give you a Unique
Inns guide book to take home and we can recommend Unique Inns in
the west if you have other destinations in mind.
Family Stuff We feel so very fortunate that we have
had a safe and healthy year. Jake is happy as a sophomore at UC
San Diego - he is a Communications major with minors in Business,
and Drama. He is Captain of the Ski Team, plays flag football,
inner tube water polo, and surfs. Marty is enjoying his Harley
more than ever - many fun getaways this year. Barb just got back
from China with her Mom - a fabulous trip - ask to see her
pictures! Erin, our wonderful hostess is ready to start her third
year at the Shore House, and with living at Tahoe. It’s quite a
change from her former life in Simi Valley. We love her and she is
an integral part of our operation. Not only is she a great
hostess, but she is becoming quite a chef as well. Fuzzball is
approaching her 13th birthday, but still jogs on the
beach with Barb every morning!
In Closing: Please join us in helping families in
